I have chosen the above images as my inspiration for my music video. At first I felt like it was only right to look at Michael Buble's covers first, as it is his song. They were very simple, however, did show aspects of Christmas, yet it kind of simple and didn't link to any of his songs in particular. As I looked I found this was the case for a lot of album covers. After looking at Michael Buble's cover art, I decided to look at some other Christmas albums. First up, was Rod Stewart, his was very similar to Buble's. However, it did contain Christmas elements that his didn't such as a Christmas tree. It did have a more Christmas feel than the previous, I believe this is because of the repetitive colour of white. Leona Lewis album cover, had a lot to offer as inspiration. She used a split screen with different photo's of herself and with all little Christmas icons everywhere. Even the use of the red and green scream Christmas. Moreover, Mariah Care's album makes it obvious that her song is about Christmas. She is kneeling in the snow, in a Santa suit. I feel like this is filled with the festive holiday and she stands out due to the contrast of colour. George Michael album's cover for, last Christmas has no Christmas aspects at all apart from the red and green where the names sit. I like this cover due to the black and white of the image and it's super simplicity. The Vamps and JLS have very simple designs for their cover art, l however I really like the split screen and the use of colour.

Inspiration:

The use of the split frame and the little added extra Christmas icons are really cool in this album cover. I feel like it really adds to the feeling of Christmas and is a smart way of showing multiple images of the singer than just one. I also like the use of different font as it shows her personality and the feeling of Christmas. The red and green in this image also amplifies this feeling and makes it overall feel more like Christmas.

The black and white of the image makes the music album cover seam timeless, which I really like, it also makes the little bit of green and red in the image stand out more, showing that it is a Christmas song. The use of block fonts also show their personalities and how this song is more heartbreak than love.

The Vamps cover art is very simple but effective. It shows each member individually and that's the main thing I like about it. I feel like it is a creative way to show off their personalities through images, instead of making them stand together. I also like how the coloured is changed. I would use this in my piece but different coloured to that as it wouldn't match the Christmas theme.

Plan:

Date: 19-20th

Where: College and Outside of college

Group's for images: Brandon and Natalie, Millie and Callum, Alex and Jamie, Caitlin and Hayden, Tyler and Scarlett.

Costumes: Casual wear as past their shoulders wont be in it.

Make up: As in the music video every one was just natural, I plan for the same in my album cover, if people choose to wear make up, it will most likely be natural and light.

As I have to have a design that will fit all five couples in from my music video, I feel like the best way to do this will be having a split screen once again. This is so, they can all fit nicely and not make the story line of the actual music video not make sense by having the all together.

I also want to make sure that there is Christmas elements in this piece as I plan to have it black and white and this will make it more difficult for it to be obvious what it is about. I would also like each couple to pose differently, to add more of an effect.

My ideas:

My first idea for my cover art is to have the five images in a photo strip. On the bottom I would have the a block area where it would say the song name and who it was by. The back ground would be black and I would have white snow flake in the background For the photo strip I would have a white background and the images would be arranged on it from there to make it look more like a photo strip from a photo booth. Other than that I wouldn't really add anymore Christmas elements as I feel it would ruin the whole vibe.

My second idea for my cover art is to have the five images in a photo split screen. It's rather simple but straight to the point introducing the ten characters from the music video. It doesn't necessarily show the theme of Christmas other that the name of the song in the centre. However, when editing if I feel like it isn't enough, I would add a few extra elements of little trees, candy canes, etc around the photo's to show it more. However, I feel like this layout is verty more simplistic than my other ideas sand a bit boring in comparison.

My third idea for my cover art is to have the five images spread throughout the page. It isn't my favourite but possibly could be the most Christmas filled one with all the little extra add ons I'm planning on using. (Tree, Candy Canes, etc).I feel like it's a good idea but not for an album cover. I think the use of randomly thrown everywhere doesn't do much for it. However, I do like that I will be able to be more creative with choosing how and wear things will go.

Evaluation:

With my three album cover designs, I aimed to create a design that would allow me to use all five images of the couples but also have a sense of Christmas about it. Even though my designs were simple I feel like it showed what the music video is about without revealing the heart breaking twist at the end. I was able to plan for these designs by creating three sketches to help me visualise them better and also a plan for when I would be taking my images.

When I was creating these three designs, I came into some challenges surrounding production and pre-production. My main issue was that my schedule for things always classed with the people I needed. For example when I was available to shoot on Wednesday the said couples were unavailable due to other agreements. This tended to be a reoccurring thing and I was able to solve this by simply moving things round to be able to et thee pictures. I did also have an issue with editing my designs due to not having these photo's, it delayed the process. I simply solved this by creating everything else and adding them on once I got them.

overall, I don't mind my finished work, I feel like one of my designs are better than the rest
